The conductor wires are red for hot, black for neutral with a white and green soldered together joining the coils. each coil have separate wires to connect to separate volume knobs. It is 2 coils with 4 wires.. Can't this be connected as an active pickup, it's possible to use it with an active preamp.is a passive pickup.It can be used without a preamplifier. To ensure that the pickup does not work in the case of proper connection, check to see if there is any damage inside it. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance. The normal resistance is around 12k ohms.. it comes with about 1/4"" exposed wire to solder your connections
